On 2nd December 2004 we held our second annual user group at the Riverside
centre in Derby.
Once again we had a great turnout, with both familiar and new faces
in the audience.
The highlights of the day were
- A demonstration of the use of integrated SMS messaging, with messages being sent to the phones of audience members. This was carried out in conjunction with Chris Booth from Txttools.co.uk who have collaborated in the integration process, and are the chosen supplier of SMS messaging to a growing number of TeleCare sites.
- An introduction to moving towards paperless working for GU and HIV clinics. This described the procedural and technological challenges and included the use of laboratory result feeds and the latest TeleCare enhancements. This was presented by Dr David White from Heartlands.
- Shirley Cumming, from St Peter's in Chertsey, described the way that they were using the imaging capabilities in TeleCare to improve the care of patients with certain conditions such as genital warts. She also described how such initiatives could be framed to Ethical standards committees, and how to obtain and record consent.
In addition there were presentations from the Mill Systems staff that covered
the developments of the previous 12 months, future plans, and the importance
of Business Continuity planning.
Full details will be made available in a newsletter in the New Year.
